I am often asked if ivermectin works at warding off COVD-19 infection, or if I would suggest any other regimens. I normally say, eat well, like a lot of vegetables and fruits, maintain home-cooking meals, no fried and greasy foods, and take extra vitamin C, D, and Zinc. Some are happy with what I offer, but others want a more solid prevention, like taking ivermectin. But are there other options?
As you know, ivermectin is an FDA-approved anti-parasitic drug that has been available for approximately 40 years. The Frontline COVID-19 Critical Care Alliance, whose has been treating Covid-19 patients with ivermectin since early 2020, created a treatment protocol. In the protocol, those at high risk for COVID-19 infection receive ivermectin at 0.2 mg/kg on day 1 and day 3, and weekly for 4 weeks; those who were exposed to COVID-19 receive the same dose at day 1 and day 3; and both groups receive daily doses of vitamin D3, vitamin C, quercetin, zinc and melatonin. For early outpatients with COVID-19, the protocol calls for one dose of ivermectin at 0.2 mg/kg at day 1 and day 3, along with the same daily vitamins and 325 mg per day of aspirin. There is also a drug called Favipiravir, sold under the brand name Avigan, that is an antiviral medication used to treat influenza. It is also being studied to treat a number of other viral infections including Covid. There are number of publications regarding Covid-19 treatment using favipiravir, and it is still under trial for Covid-19 treatment. However, some studies say that favipiravir has strong possibility for treating COVID-19, especially in patients with mild-to-moderate illness. The dose in clinical use in most countries, including India, is 1800 mg twice on day 1, followed by 800 mg twice on days 2–14.
Then, a natural amino acid, 5-amino levulinic acid (5-ALA), is also becoming popular among people who don’t want to take `pharmaceuticals,` because 5-ALA is supplement. 5-ALA is found in plants, animals, bacteria, and fungi, and forms protoporphyrin IX (PPIX) when eight molecules come together. PPIX can generate heme when combined with a ferrous ion. 5-ALA has been used in various therapies to achieve metabolic improvement. Because of its ability to improve aerobic energy metabolism, 5-ALA is also used as a tool in cancer diagnosis. Recent studies suggest 5-ALA also has antiviral properties against human pathogens like dengue virus, Zika virus, and SARS-CoV-2.
Despite of these three less (or no) side-effects drug/foods, back in June, the European Commission (EC) has identified the first five drug candidates as part of a new strategy to select the preferred treatments for COVID-19 in the EU.

Lilly’s bamlanivimab and etesevimab combination
Roche and Regeneron’s REGEN-COV (casirivimab and imdevimab),
Celltrion’s regdanivimab
GlaxoSmithKline/Vir Biotech’s sotrovimab
If you research each one of them, I believe that you would learn very serious side effects. Also, I assume they are expensive drugs compared to those three mentioned above. Therefore, FDA may not approve those three for Covid-19 treatment… But did you know all those three treatments are discovered and developed in Japan?
As many of natural/alternative medicine doctors mention, you need to boost your own immune system to protect from the virus. Your diet, your exercise, the amount of sleep that you get, and your stress levels are the biggest factors that are under your control. If you unfortunately get covid vaccine and use sanitizer all the time everywhere, your immune system might be very low. So, please don’t blame a healthy unvaccinated person if you become one of breakthrough patients! 😊
