Holistic health is not itself a method of treatment, but instead an approach to how treatment should be applied. Traditional medical philosophy approaches patient care as simply attempting to correct physical symptoms using standardized methods such as prescription of drugs or the undertaking of surgery, while the patient is only passively involved. In contrast, a holistic approach to health is wide and varied. The focus is no longer on just the disease or the symptoms, but the whole person. The role of the patient also changes in learning how choices, actions and attitudes affect the present condition, and how one can be an active participant in the healing process.

I look at how all areas of your life are connected. Does stress at your job or in your relationship cause you to overeat? Does lack of sleep or low energy prevent you from exercising? As we work together, we look at how all parts of your life affect the whole. Healthy relationships, a fulfilling career, regular physical activity and a spiritual practice are essential forms of nourishment. When these “primary foods” are balanced, what you eat becomes secondary.
